Description

sera med Professional Nematol is a medicinal product for the treatment of freshwater and saltwater fish in the presence of Camallanus worms, hairworms and other nematodes and can already be used prophylactically.

Good housing conditions are the best way to prevent fish diseases. Despite all efforts, diseases are not always completely avoidable. Regardless of whether the pathogens were introduced by replanting/replanting or other factors are responsible for the outbreak, fast and effective action is always the order of the day. The sera products in the "Cure Diseases" range accompany the therapy from the supportive preparation to the actual treatment with specialised, effective sera medicinal products, right up to the cleaning and biological reactivation of the water after successful treatment.
Fish are generally sensitive to stress, whether due to transport, other or new additions, but also to unfavourable environmental conditions in the aquarium. This often affects the fish's immune system so that their defences are no longer intact. Milling head worms ( Camallanus ) are up to 2.5 cm long, red-coloured worms that suck blood on the intestinal wall of the fish. In the case of infected fish, the rear end of the worms can hang up to 10mm from the anus of the fish. Infectious larvae live on the substrate for up to two weeks and are taken up there by the affected fish. Commonly affected fish species are scalars and other cichlids, discus fish, guppies and other life-giving people as well as salmer and catfish. Hairworms ( Cappillaria ) are thread-thin worms that parasitise in the intestine of the fish. The oval eggs with the characteristic plugs can be found in the fish droppings. Infested fish grow up poorly or lose weight. Discus and scalars are particularly infected. Hoplings ( Cyclops ) are intermediate hosts for the larvae of Camallanus , Capillaria and tapeworms ( Bothriocephalus acheilognathi ). Since fish eat hopflies, the parasitic worms can easily spread in the fish population. Nematol also fights oxyurids (discus pinworms).

Nematodes, catfish, loaches and parturients and especially young fish in the first days of life can react sensitively.

Application:
Shake well before use! 1 ml of Nematol is added to 40 litres of aquarium water and stirred in. If larvae still hatch in eggs, they can be detected with a second nematol treatment after about three weeks. The water should be well ventilated during treatment. A water change of at least 80% must be carried out after two days. Medicines should generally not be overdosed, as already weakened fish could be more sensitive.

Note:
UV-C devices and CO2 systems should be switched off during treatment. Activated carbon and other absorbent filter media should be removed. The non-toxic solvents contained in the drug are biodegraded by beneficial bacteria. This happens with oxygen consumption. Under certain conditions, clouding and lack of oxygen can occur. To remove the solvents, a water change must, therefore, be carried out at the end of the treatment. During the application, fish should not be fed or only very sparingly. Nematol is not tolerated by invertebrates, if necessary the fish to be treated should be treated in a quarantine tank.
