Tunze RO Ion Exchanger

The Tunze® ion exchanger is an additional filter for the Tunze RO Station 8550.

The TUNZE® RO Station 8550 is a quality reverse osmosis device for pure water production (RO water). In aquaristics, it is particularly suitable for marine and freshwater aquariums. RO Station 8550 consists of a 5 µm sediment filter, a 1 µm carbon sediment filter and a TFC membrane (polysulfone connection). The average retention rate is 98%, the proportion of pure water is approx. 20-25% of the processed water.

You can attach this additional filter to the water outlet of the RO station as a water hardener or silicate filter. The container contains a screw cap, plug connections for the osmosis device hose and two clamps for direct attachment to the RO station. The use as a silicate filter at the water outlet is particularly recommended since it removes diatoms that produce unsightly lubricating algae. A mixed bed ion exchanger with a colour change is used as the medium.
In order to increase the calcium content of the RO starting water, you can fill in the calcium carbonate 880.901 lime granulate instead of the mixed bed ion exchange granulate. The RO source water absorbs high amounts of calcium hydrogen carbonate. The RO output water is hardened, the carbonate hardness is increased.

Tip
Remember to change the filter material regularly! This is the case if the colour change has occurred. The initial colour can be different, greenish turns bluish, yellowish turns brown-red and blue-purple turns orange.
