Microsorum pteropus is a low-maintenance, adaptable aquarium plant. This fern with its impressive diverse looks is extremely popular in the aquarium hobby and is native to tropical Asia. From large to small, lancet-like to wavy, the leaf shapes of the Java fern are as varied as its locations in the aquarium. You can tie it to roots or stones to create a natural look in your aquarium - the robust fern even grows well on sandy substrate.
It thrives in moderate to normal light but grows well even in shady corners of the aquarium. It often forms small daughter plants on older leaves, which you can easily attach elsewhere with a fishing line. Thus this low-maintenance plant is easy to propagate and adds fresh green accents to your aquarium.
