Description
The Eheim SUBSTRAT is a standard bio filter medium with a large settlement area for bacterial cultures.
Eheim SUBSTRAT can be built up in one or more layers, it is a highly porous filter material made of sintered quartz. The surface structure offers the important cleaning bacteria excellent colonisation conditions and the surface is approx. 450 m² per litre.
EHEIM SUBSTRAT is suitable for fresh and saltwater, is washable and can be used several times.
Suggestion: One should never (and never too thoroughly) clean or replace all of the biological filter material in one operation. The bacterial cultures must not be completely destroyed, otherwise, the resettlement of the bacteria will be delayed. The filter baskets in the external filters and the filter modules in the internal filters aquaball and biopower are ideal for partial cleaning.
