Description

The relatively easy-to-care for Cryptocoryne beckettii 'viridifolia' ( viridifolia = green-leaved), also to be found in the trade as Beckett's water trumpet, originally comes from Sri Lanka and tolerates soft to hard water. The 15 to 20 cm high lawn-forming rosette plant really comes into its own in the foreground to the middle ground of the aquarium.

The light green leaves of this 15-20 cm large Cryptocoryne sit on red-brown fleshy narrow petioles. This makes it perfect for the foreground in the aquarium, where it loosens up lawns and can even be used as a lawn plant.

Cryptocoryne beckettii 'viridifolia' was first introduced in stores by the company Anubias. It is a rosette plant in terms of growth form. With CO2 and a good supply of nutrients, it grows a little faster under medium-strong light than in low-tech aquariums and can handle soft to medium-hard water well. Since it also absorbs its nutrients through the roots, it should be supplied with root fertiliser immediately after it has set in and then at regular intervals.

Cryptocoryne beckettii 'viridifolia' reproduces through daughter plants at the rosette base. Simply detach and plant, that's it. Not really laborious, but because the plant grows so slowly, you still need patience.
