Description

The relatively easy-to-care-for heart-leaved sword plant Echinodorus cordifolius from North and South America likes soft to hard water. The 40 to 100cm rosette plant really comes into its own in the background of an open aquarium, where it can grow out of the water.

The heart-leaved sword plant Echinodorus cordifolius is more of a swamp plant with a tendency to grow out of the water. You can then enjoy their beautiful white flowers in open aquariums. It becomes really very high at up to 100cm and therefore needs a spacious aquarium. As a very large plant, this echi needs a substrate that is at least 10cm thick so that it can take root well.

Echinodorus cordifolius drives inflorescences with daughter plants that can be used for reproduction. Snap on and plant - it's that simple!

Echinodorus cordifolius needs a nutrient-rich soil substrate in the aquarium because it is a strong root setter. Otherwise, the heart-leaved sword plant is quite easy to care for. Soft to hard water works well, and it does not necessarily need a CO2 additive. Medium-light is sufficient.

Our expert Oliver Knott recommends:
The heart-leaved sword plant is definitely a case for really large, open aquariums or for paludariums where it has a lot of space. The white flowers look pretty nice, I have to say!
