Anubias Hygrophila Corymbosa 'Siamensis'

The less demanding stem plant Hygrophila corymbosa 'Siamensis', the Thai water lover, comes from Southeast Asia. The 40 to about 60 cm tall plant is perfect for the background of the aquarium and tolerates soft to hard water.

The favourite in the aquarium hobby Thai water friend Hygrophila corymbosa 'Siamensis' is a classic aquarium plant from Southeast Asia. The fast-growing stem plant, can be used optimally for algae control because it is undemanding and consumes many nutrients that are thus no longer available to the troublesome algae.

This robust, beautiful aquarium plant is quite high and may therefore be used in the background of the aquarium. The Thai water lover branches up nicely with regular support and then becomes bushy and compact.

The large, wide, light green leaves of the Thai aquatic friend just look beautiful, if you combine them with aquatic plants with finer foliage. Hygrophila corymbosa 'Siamensis' gets a lot of light and is well-fertilized in the aquarium, the shoot tips take on a pretty bronze colour.

The Thai water lover grows even without CO2 fertilisation, with CO2 it is faster and the plants appeared stronger. A good supply of nutrients promotes growth, and under medium to strong light, the colours are prettier and the growth more compact.

In order to breed Hygrophila corymbosa 'Siamensis', you cut shoots of about 10 cm in length and put them with some distance two to three inches deep as an offshoot in the bottom of your aquarium.

Aquariums that have not been around for a long time and in which the plants do not grow so well are susceptible to algae. Here I recommend undemanding, fast-growing stem plants to use in the run-in phase, which steal the stupid algae directly the nutrients, so they do not even really come up. The Thai water lover is definitely one of the plants I can recommend for that.
