Description

The MAXI filter range can be used both under and above the water's surface!

Depending on the installation option, a MAXI filter can be used as:

  • An external filter that can be operated on the bank of a pond or over a waterfall source.
  • Or as a submerged filter located at the bottom of the pond. If this option is selected, the pump is mounted on the filter cover and also serves as a well.

Contents:
The standard MAXI filter package contains a set of filter media: brushes, sponge, BIO MAX balls and coconut mat. The package also contains all the elements required to mount the filter inside or outside the water tank. In addition to the filter, the package contains a PVC tube with a rubber bend, 3 screws, 3 nuts and a stand.

Function description:
The filter system supplied with the MAXI filter guarantees comprehensive mechanical and biological filtration. The MAXI filter can also be equipped with a UV lamp to prevent water from blooming and algae growth. The standard MAXI package does not contain a UV lamp.

If the MAXI filter is to be used as a fountain, the base of the pump must be attached to the filter cover. Attach the spray nozzle to the pump outlet. Screw the stub that came with the standard package into the pump inlet. Then connect the pump to the elbows combined with the suction tube. The pipe draws in treated water from the bottom of the filter and expels it through the spray nozzle over the surface of the water.

If the MAXI filter is used as an external filter, the treated water flows back into the pond through the hoses connected to the outlets when it reaches the outlet openings in the bottom of the filter. If the filter is over a waterfall, either of the two outlet openings on its bottom can be used to create the waterfall or a cascade. Make sure that the point from which the suction pipe draws water into the filter is at a sufficient distance from the point where the treated water is returned to the pond.

The MAXI pond filters are supplied with 4 layers of filter medium:

  • Brush
  • Sponge
  • Coconut mat
  • Organic balls

The media are arranged in layers. Brushes are very suitable for water treatment or mechanical filtration. At the same time, they offer an excellent substrate for the development of living bacterial cultures.

The next stage of mechanical filtration is carried out through a phenol-free sponge. The sponge also provides a particularly favourable environment for the development of bacterial cultures that are responsible for removing biological pollutants from the reservoir.

Due to its structure, the coconut mat is an excellent mechanical filtration medium and a perfect substrate for the bacterial cultures that are responsible for biological filtration.

The polystyrene balls have ribs and small openings on both poles. Their action is based on the differentiation of aerobic conditions for biochemical processes. On their outer surface, aerobic conditions are favourable for the oxidation of organic compounds. The inner surface acts as an anaerobic microreactor in which the reduction of organic compounds takes place. All of this leads to very effective water purification.
