EHEIM filter material sets mostly consist of filter mat or filter fleece and of biological and mechanical filter materials.

Filter fleeces and filter mats for mechanical and biological filtering
The porous material is penetrated evenly by the water and retains coarse and fine dirt particles. After a short warm-up period, cleaning bacteria settle in the specially structured foam, which then ensures intensive biological pollutant degradation.

The fleeces and mats can, of course, be used several times. For cleaning, you should only rinse and squeeze them out so that the bacterial cultures are not completely destroyed.

Pre-filter material made of ceramic hollow bodies for coarse dirt particles

Immediately after entering the filter circuit, the water is swirled through the ceramic hollow body. This reduces coarse dirt particles. The pre-filtered water thus prepared continues on through the further filter layers. EHEIM MECH is easy to clean and reusable.

Mechanical-biological filter medium for combined water treatment

bioMECH is cleverly constructed: Coarse and fine dirt particles get caught in dirt bags and are retained. At the same time, a sophisticated pore structure ensures the settlement of cleaning bacteria and thus reliable biological degradation. The material is pH neutral and contains no hardening agents.
EHEIM bioMECH is suitable for fresh and seawater, is washable and can be used several times.

Optimised biofilter medium with perfect volume utilisation, long service life and maximum degradation performance

SUBSTRATpro consists of spherical sintered quartz. The spherical shape allows a high bulk density. This means that the volume in the filter (filter baskets or modules) can be fully utilised. In addition, the optimised surface of the beads ensures the intensive settlement of the important cleaning bacteria. A dense bacterial lawn forms.

Due to the high number of bacteria, nitrite pollution peaks are better reduced and the service life of the filter material is extended.
