That includes recreating their natural habitat as closely as possible. Because a natural habitat is important to them as the air they breathe!

The multi-layer Tropical Forest Floor is a 100% natural substrate for creating tropical forest habitats in terrariums. The substrate consists of two layers. The soft top layer is made up of green, sun-dried moss and is also decorative. This biodegradable layer is ideal for burrowing and hiding. Furthermore, it stores moisture and releases it into the air as required thus preventing the lower substrate from drying out. The moist top layer also acts as a true ecosystem where beneficial bacteria break down waste products and absorb odours.

The bottom layer is rich in organic matter and consists of a mixture of ground coconut husk fibre and coco peat. Its grain size ranging from coarse granules to fine lumps provides good drainage.

The substrate is completely eco-friendly and biodegradable. Its hygroscopic properties help maintain the humidity in terrariums and make the substrate also suitable for plants. It is free from added chemicals and can be safely disposed of in your household compost heap.

The tropical terrarium substrate is heat treated and will not cause bacterial contamination in terrariums.

Instructions for use:

Spread a 5-10 cm thick layer of the substrate and moisten if necessary. Cover it with a layer of soft moss. Replace soiled substrate daily. Replace the substrate completely after a while.
