JBL ProPond Sterlet M
- Complete food with the right protein-fat ratio of 3: 1 according to the NEO index
- With salmon, shrimp, squid, spirulina and gammarus for natural nutrition of sterlets (at 10-25 ° C water temperature)
- Food size M (6 mm) for fish from 30-60 cm
- Falling food pellets
JBL ProPond Sterlet M is a sinking complete food according to NEO index in pellet form for medium sterlets of 30-60 cm, which can be fed in the pond at temperatures between 10-25 ° C and is available in different containers.
ProPond Sterlet M's better digestibility is promoted due to prebiotic ingredients, which ensures better water quality. The fine-tuned phosphate content also reduces water turbidity and thus inhibits algae growth. In addition to the seasonal concept, JBL ProPonds offers special FunctionFood varieties that can be fed alone or as an additional supplement for special requirements or as a treat. ProPond Sterlet M are medium, 6 mm sinking feed pellets, with 40% protein, 12% fat, 2% raw fibre and 8% raw ash.
NEO - Naturally optimised nutrition
With JBL ProPond, a balanced and natural diet is possible all year round so that the animals stay healthy and active in the long term. All ProPond products of the season concept offer high-quality ingredients in line with the NEO index. This species-appropriate nutrition provides the optimal amount of high-quality proteins and fats for the well-being of the animals at any temperature. It supports all vital functions for resistant and active fish with beautiful colours.
NEO Index literally means: Natural energy-optimised nutrition. Behind this is the ratio of proteins to fats in the feed. If only the season were taken into account, fish would only need half as many proteins (2: 1) in winter as in summer (4: 1). However, since not only the season, i.e. the water temperature, but also the size and age, as well as the function of the feed (e.g. growth feed = ProPond Growth) play a decisive role, the NEO Index was developed, which has all these properties packed in a statement. The living conditions of the fish are also included in the NEO index and are taken into account in the special FunctionFood varieties. With its prebiotic, JBL offers a basis for fast changes of the season to keep fit with the sometimes drastic temperature jumps. The protein-fat ratio of 5: 1 helps the animals to cover their high energy metabolism through the feed and does not have to approach the energy reserves. This leaves enough energy to withstand disease.
Sturgeons are very special fish: their body shape already indicates their way of life: they swim near the ground and feel small invertebrates in the ground with their barbels (chemosensory organ), which they feed on in nature. JBL ProPond Sterlet was adapted to these nutritional habits in terms of composition (increased proportion of invertebrates) and sinking behaviour. Even if sturgeons learn to eat on the surface of the water, this form of nutrition contradicts their natural behaviour and harbours the risk of excessive air ingestion. Sturgeons should always be fed their own feed, as the feed has a different composition and the sterlets could also inadvertently injure the Koi mucosa through their bone plates in the fight for the other feed. In practice, goldfish and koi can be fed on the surface of one pond corner and the sinking sturgeon food on the other corner.
Our expert Oliver Knott recommends:
JBL ProPond Sterlet M is a complete feed for small sterlets that, thanks to the falling feed pellets, can eat properly on the ground and do not accidentally injure other fish by fighting for surface feed.
