Description

The JBL Nedol Plus 250 is a remedy for hairworms, pinworms, camallanus worms and other nematodes in fresh and marine water.

Nematodes, capillaria, roundworms
Of the 10,000 known types of nematodes (nematodes), especially the roundworm (Camallanus) and the hairworm (Capillaria) are known as pests in aquaristics. The following general symptoms can indicate an infection with the worms mentioned: Infected fish lose weight despite good feeding. Occasionally the fish secrete white, slimy faeces because the parasites damage the intestinal wall and this is then also excreted. Note: slimy, white faeces can also indicate poor nutrition or the presence of flagellates. Therefore, this symptom is only an indication of infection with roundworms in combination with others mentioned. Shoal fish lose weight and separate from the shoal. Individual fish lie on the floor and make rotating movements. An infestation of roundworms (Camallanus) can be recognised relatively easily: The rear end of the red-coloured females sometimes hangs somewhat out of the anus of the infected fish in order to settle larvae. With the exception of the roundworms, certainty in the diagnosis is only given by a microscopic examination.

In order to fight the disease permanently, not only is the right medication necessary, but also an improvement in the water values. The most important measure is regular water change. The use of a UV-C clarifier also helps to reduce the bacterial density in the aquarium and improve the living conditions of the fish. The most important water values that need to be checked and optimised if necessary are carbonate hardness (KH), pH (pH value), ammonium (NH4) / ammonia (NH3) and nitrite (NO2). In addition, regular and thorough cleaning of the filter is recommended.

Application
Before and during use, activated carbon must be removed from the filter, UV-C water clarifier, CO2 fertilisation, and additional skimmers and ozonizers in seawater must be switched off. A 50% water change must be carried out before use. During treatment, the aquarium is to be ventilated with a vent stone using a diaphragm pump. JBL Nedol Plus 250 should always be added in the morning while observing the animals.

Dose
10 ml / 75 l aquarium water.

A detailed treatment plan is included with the product. The first treatment takes about 10 days and is repeated after another 21 days.

After the start of treatment, the fish should only be fed a reduced amount. Biologically active filters that have been in place for some time can partially inactivate the drug. After the treatment, the aquarium water should be filtered over activated carbon for 24 hours to remove drug residues and be treated with bacterial preparations. The ammonium/ammonia and nitrite values should be measured daily during and after treatment.

Warning
The application is not suitable for invertebrates and other lower animals in fresh and saltwater. The aquarium can be observed continuously during treatment. If the fish is found to be intolerant, an immediate water change of 50% must be carried out.

Our expert Oliver Knott recommends:
When the first signs of ectoparasites appear, immediate action is required to avoid further stressing the fish! JBL Nedol Plus 250 helps to remove them and contributes significantly to the recovery of sensitive animals!
