Description
The easy to care for Montecarlo pearl herb Micranthemum sp. 'Montecarlo', also known as Micranthemum tweediei or Montecarlo-3, comes from South America. The fast-growing aquarium plant likes soft to medium-hard water. The 3 to 15 cm high ground cover plant really comes into its own in the foreground or middle ground of the aquarium.
The well-growing Montecarlo pearl herb Micranthemum sp. 'Montecarlo' develops quite long shoots, but because it grows in a creeping manner, it still does not get very high and can therefore be used as a ground cover in the foreground. You can also create really great, relaxed effects in the middle ground with the fine-leaved pearl herb. You can even attach it to roots or stones and let it grow overhanging - and build a great and extraordinary effect into your aquascape or planted aquarium.
The shoots of Micranthemum sp. 'Montecarlo' drive roots from the stem nodes, from which a new plant then forms. To multiply, simply cut off the thin stems and re-insert them with tweezers.
The very fine-leaved, light green pearl herb Micranthemum sp. 'Montecarlo' grows great in soft to medium-hard water. Together with a good supply of nutrients, CO2 is necessary for compact growth and great colours. In medium to strong light, Montecarlo pearl herb grows nice and low and compact, in little light, it tends to rise.
You can buy the Montecarlo pearl herb in the Olibetta shop in a sterile cup from the laboratory. This aquarium plant was bred from cell cultures and is therefore not contaminated with harmful substances. It also does not bring any pests, parasites or pathogens with it and you can therefore use it directly in the aquarium, even if you are caring for sensitive aquarium inhabitants such as dwarf shrimp.
Our expert Oliver Knott recommends:
The Montecarlo pearlwort grows into a very dense carpet in the foreground. You should thin it out from time to time so that the plant doesn't steal the light itself. If the carpet becomes too thick, it can float, and we don't want that either.
